Well today we went up to Holmside for some showjumping and got a slight shock when once again the weather was scorching.
I think it slightly affected Maude, she was very calm in the warm up and sweated up quite a bit and was puffing more than i would have expected; but there again she is a big horse who is naturally warm blooded
We got there in time for the 1m Scope Qualifier and jumped what i thought was a very nice clear - she really does find this height too easy. Sadly though we had a late pole on the first part of the double - Course Designed Keith McVittie told me we managed the line in 2 strides and it should have been 3!!! So lesson learnt sit up and slow down!
Had a wait for the Newcomers due to and accident with another competitor. I think the long wait and the heat took its toll with Maude and we went in and had the first fence to then carry on with a nice round. Slightly annoyed but there again it is our 1st time BS outdoors this season and other experienced partnerships were having problems (area point winners) so it wasn't too bad and she definatly isn't struggling with teh height so I think next time it will be 1.10m straight away!!
Scorching.
