To finish the year off we did an exerise by Yogi Breisner and adapted it to suit our arena as sadly with it only being a 20x40 we do have a limit as to what we can do!
The basis of the exercise was to create a line fo three fences each with a stride (8 paces) between a fence. and All fences were put as straights not cross poles. We started as doing the exercise in a straight line to gain rhythm and maintain speed; but soon progressed the exercise so that we jumped direct from fence one to fence three on a dogs leg. This then meant that we continued to practise rhythm but also accuracy due to jumping on an angle. Thus hopefully being a good training exercise for cross country skinnies.
It will definatly be an exercise that i will repeat and hopefully we can progress with and see improvements when we next use it in practise.
This particular exercise came from Celebrity jumping Exercises and I must say a huge thank you to a certain Secret Santa who gave me this book full of juming exercises like this, which will no doubt be extremely useful throuughout 2012!
My final word is to wish you all a very Happy New Year as the next time I will blog the date will be 2012.
